Liu Wendian(1891-1958)styled himself Shuya, from Hefei, Anhui province. Liu was expert at collating ancient books in modern times. He successively worked in Peking University, Tsinghua University, National Southwestern Associated University, Yunnan University. Liu Wendian had impressed us as a crazy scholar for contradicting Chiang Kai-shek and criticizing Shen Congwen, or people treated him as a negative figure for smoking opium to anesthesia himself. But with the raising attention, a new set of data has been found. Especially Liu’s political sex articles published in1930s and1940s profoundly reflected his political views and patriotic thoughts. This deserved focusing on and researching.Liu’s political thoughts in the1930s and1940s mainly embodied in the interpretation of the Japan’s political, invasion of thought and Japan’s national characters before the war; Analysis of the war’s situation and the current political situation during the war; Perspective of dealing with the vanquished nation and traitors. Liu Wendian had been to Japan for three times.He associated with Sun Yat-sen, Zhang binglin,edc. In Japan, Liu had read up on Japanese books and had an original view of its country and nationality. After Anti-Japanese War broke out, Liu made the effort to reach the National Southwestern Associated University, wrote the political sex articles and gave his opinions of how to deal with the losing states. From the moment, these political articles not only are the significant references of researching Liu’s political thoughts but also are the important historical resources to reflect and examine the China-Japan relations.
