Recitation has always been a traditional and efficient teaching method in China. However, this method does not attract enough attention in foreign language teaching, a lot of foreign language teachers and learners believe that recitation is time-consuming and laborious, it is not worth doing.We believe that, even in modern language teaching, recitation still plays an important role, irreplaceable. The study focus on the theory of Krashen's second language acquisition, doing an teaching experiment in the process of English as a second language teaching, demonstrated that recitation is also an effective method for learning a foreign language; at the same time, try to explore the feasibility in the process of Chinese as a second language teaching through the rational teaching design. Undoubtedly, it is significant for reforming teaching methods in Chinese as a foreign language teaching, and it will also improve its teaching quality. In modern language teaching, this study is an innovation and has its practical value.This article is divided into five sections:The first chapter is an introduction, describes the reasons for this research topic, research method and research significance, in the meantime, reviews the status of domestic and international research on recitation;The second chapter analyses some basic concepts, and the theoretical basis of recitation, explains how to use recitation strategy efficiently in foreign language teaching as well;The third chapter is the teaching experiment done in an English class which is taught as a Second Language; and makes a conclusion:recitation is an efficient method to learn foreign languages; this section is also connected with attitude to recitation among teachers and learners in forms of questionnaire, and it is clear that the attitude is positive.The fourth chapter is a reasonable instructional design attempts to explore the feasibility of recitation in Chinese class which is taught as a second language.The last part is the conclusion of this study.
