Domestic commercial films rapidly grab market share' like a rising wind and scudding clouds since 21st century. Meanwhile, low budget films, with their lower production cost and unique narrative style, win good reputation from the audience and gain considerable box-office returns.This study takes domestic low budget commercial films after 2000 as its objects, theoretically based on narratology and providing a systematic development course of domestic low budget commercial films. On this foundation, choosing some successful films such as Crazy Stone, Lost on Journey, Gao Xing and Crossed Lines, this research analyzes the narrative characteristics from the aspect of narrative strategies, story level, narrative structure and narrative elements. Furthermore, placing low budget commercial films in the overall environment of Chinese film industrialization, this study investigates their particular styles and successful experiences to ensure their sustainable development space, thus offering a workable perspective to the overall balance and favorable interaction in the development of Chinese films.
