OBJECTIVEUnderstanding of the domestic post-stroke depression prevalence, factors related, for future studies of depression after stroke provide evidence.METHODS:1. Computer search and manual search through a comprehensive collection of domestic post-stroke depression on the prevalence, factors related documents, all integrated into the analysis of the literature.2. The prevalence of depression after stroke is weighted analysis . Each of the sample size (number of stroke) as the weight on the prevalence rates are weighted to calculate the weighted prevalence.3. The main risk factors (data complete original documents), calculation of combined Chi-square value.RESULTS:1. Pre-screening a total of 2581 documents retrieved by the inclusion criteria after screening by 61. Among them, the prevalence of depression after stroke were observed at different time periods in 48 articles, the prevalence of depression after stroke related factors were studied and analyzed in 46 articles2. The weighted prevalence of post-stroke depression was 20% ~ 50% The weighted prevalence of depression within 1 month after stroke was 38.5%; the onset of depression between three and six months after stroke was 46.6%;the onset of depression one year after stroke was 22.7%. 3. The post-stroke depression factors related literature support for a rough comparison, we found occurrence of depression after stroke related to the factors of the order of support for the neurological deficits (34/34), character before stroke (7 / 7), recognition impairment (4 / 4), social support (14/15), family relations (10/11), complications (12/14), depression history (4 / 5), lesion site (22/29), multiple single lesions (4 / 6), economic status (8 / 13), stroke duration (6 / 14), stroke lesion side (12/32), lesion size (3 / 8), gender (13/36) education (6 / 20), age (8 / 28), marriage (4 / 15), lifestyle (3 / 12), nature of stroke (1 / 28).4. The combined raw data of the literature found that: the prevalence of depression with no neurological deficit was 16.67%, the prevalence of depression with mild neurological deficits was 31.14%, 54.58% moderate to 60% severe, compared with each other between statistically significant(χ2=68.0734 p<.0001);Male prevalence of depression after stroke was 32.91%, female 42.65%, the difference was statistically significant(χ2=55.9044 p<.0001);the depression prevalence of patients with left hemisphere injury was 47.87%, the right 39.12 %, difference between them was significant(χ2= 20.2680 p<.0001);the depression prevalence of patients with lesions at emotion-related neural pathways was 45.75%, 38.01% at other parts of the damage was significant difference in comparison(χ2= 22.6334 p<.0001);the depression prevalence of single patients was 49.18 %, compared to 35.32% married, the difference was statistically significan(tχ2= 33.2831 p<.0001);the depression prevalence of introverted patients was 44.67% ,compared to extroverted patients 35.30% , the difference was significant(χ2= 25.4006 p<.0001);the depression prevalence of patients with ischemic stroke was 41.31%, hemorrhagic stroke patients was 40.98%, mixed stroke patients 38.78%, no significant difference between the three(χ2= 0.1467 p>0.05).CONCLUSION1. The weighted prevalence of post-stroke depression was 20% ~ 50% The weighted prevalence of depression within 1 month after stroke was 38.5%; the onset of depression between three and six months after stroke was 46.6%;the onset of depression one year after stroke was 22.7%. Whether between three and six months after stroke is the peak prevalence of depression requires further clinical study.2. The occurrence of depression is related to severity of neurologic impairment, gender, stroke lesion side, lesion sites,,marriage and character of the pre-stroke which has nothing to do with the nature of stroke. Female, single, introverted, severe neurological impairment, the lesions in the left cerebral hemisphere and emotion-related neural pathway have the higher prevalence of depression among stroke patients.3. There is no better representation in Chinese study about post-stroke depression, because of the source case, diagnostic criteria, duration of stroke began to study and different statistical methods. There is urgent need for a large sample,multi-center,uniform diagnostic criteria and time of observations prospective study.
