Objectives: To observe the level change and meaning of phospholipase A2 in heart tissue of rats with acute necrotizing pancreatitis, to investigate the role on complicating heart damage and the therapetic effect of verapamil. Methods: Equally divided 42 health male SD rats into sham contrast group, model group and verapamil group with random digits table(used 7 rats at every time). The model of ANP was established in SD rats by injecting the 20% solutions of L-arginine to abdominal cavity. After 24th and 48th hours, killed rats to measure the ascites volume, phospholipase A2 in heart tissues and activity levels of serum amylase, and to score the pathologic tissues of pancreas and heart. Results: At 24th and 48th hours, the ascites volume, phospholipase A2 in heart tissues, activity levels of serum amylase and the content of serum CTnI of verapamil group were higher than those of sham cantrast group (P<0.05) and lower than those of model group(P<0.05), and the variance of weight had no statistical significance among three groups(P>0.05). At 24th hour, pathologic scores to pancreas of verapamil group was higher than those of sham cantrast group (P<0.017) and lower than those of model group(P<0.017); pathologic scores to heart was higher than those of sham cantrast group(P<0.017), but the variance had no statistical significance compared with model group (P>0.017). At 48th hour, pathologic scores to pancreas and heart of verapamil group were higher than those of sham cantrast group (P<0.017) and lower than those of model group(P<0.017). Conclusions: Phospholipase A2 obviously increases in heart tissues of rats with acute necrotizing pancreatitis. Calcium channel blocker verapamil can reduce the activity levels of phospholipase A2 in heart tissues, then mitigate pathologic damages of heart.
