Objective To Determine whether polymorphism in interleukin-1β(IL-1β) gene and interleukin-10(IL-10) gene are accociated with schizophrenia. Method:Interleukin-1β(IL-1β) gene and interleukin-10(IL-10) gene of 558 patients with schizophrenia were genetyped by using polymerase chain reaction of genomie DNA and restriction enzyme diges-tion with RsaI(AsiI), and compared with those of 336 health control subjects. Result Geno-type frequency of IL-10 592 site CC,CA,AA were 18.0%,51.7%,30.3% and 21.4%,55.4%,23.2% in control subjects, The C allele frequency was 43.8% in patients with schizophrenia and 49.1% in control subject. IL-1β511 site AA,AG,GG were 18.0%,48. 6%,33.4% and 20.4%,51.7%,27.9% in control subjects, The A allele frequency was 42.3% in patients with schizophrenia and 46.3% in control subject. There were no statisti-cal different either in genotype of IL-1βand IL-10 or in allele frequeney of IL-1βbe-tween schizophrenia and control subject. There was statistically difference between case sub-jects and control subjects in allele frequeney of IL-10. Conclusions Our data suggest that the IL-10 gene 592C/A polymorphism is presenting in the population of our study. The al-lele frequeney of IL-10 are associated with schizophrenia, and might be a major risk factor for schizophrenia. The role of the IL10 gene 592 C/A and IL1βgene 511 G/A polymorphism in onset of schizophrenia will be further study.
