Objective:To investigate the effects of xiaoqinglong decoction, shegan mahuang decoction, guizhi jia houpu xingzi decoction, maxingshigan decoction and the combination of both on the IL-4/IFN-γin the rat asthma model serum and balf.The study aimed to select the most effective prescription from the Four Classical Prescriptions and Their Combined Use on by observing the change of IL-4/IFN-y imbalance in the serum and balf of rat asthma model.which provides scientific bases for treating asthma with combined prescriptions.Methods:165 healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 11 groups, with 15 in each group. The 11 groups were xiaoqinglong decoction group,sheganmahuang decoction group,guizhi jia houpuxingzi decoction group,the combination of minor decoction of xiaoqinglong decoction and shegan mahuang decoction group,the combination of minor decoction of xiaoqinglong decoction and guizhi jia houpuxingzi decoction group,the combination of minor decoction of shegan mahuang decoction and guizhi jia houpu xingzi decoction group,maxingshigan decoction group,the combination of minor decoction of maxingshigan decoction and shegan mahuang decoction group,Pulmicort Respulesgroup,normal control group,asthma model control group,Then the model of rat asthma was made by ovalbumin (OA)-sensitized and stimulated method. The IFN-y and IL-4 in rat serum and balf from each group were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Statistical software (SPSS 10.0) was employed to make t-test analysis. After One-way analysis of variance, significant level (a)was 0.05.Results:1.Compared with asthma model control group and normal control group, the IFN-y in the former group was obviously lower than that in the latter one (P<0.05) while the IL-4 was just the opposite (P<0.05).The result showed that the ratio of IL-4/IFN-y was in seriously imbalanced. The animal model is successful.2.Compared with asthma model control group, in other therapy groups, the IFN-γincreased and IL-4 decreased in the balf,among which the Pulmicort Respulesgroup functioned most effectively; the maxingshigan decoction group was more effective than xiaoqinglong decoction group,sheganmahuang decoction group and guizhi jia houpuxingzi decoction group.in the Four Classical Prescriptions.The combined treatment group was better than the unilateral group,among which the the combination of minor decoction of maxingshigan decoction and shegan mahuang decoction group functioned most effectively;In the serum level of imbalance of the IL-4/IFN-γ, Pulmicort Respulesgroup was more effective than xiaoqinglong decoction group,sheganmahuang decoction group and guizhi jia houpuxingzi decoction group,but worse effective than maxingshigan decoction group and The Four combined treatment group.Conclusion:The Four Classical Prescriptions have the function of adjusting the immunologic dissonance of animal model of asthma.among which the maxingshigan decoction group functioned most effectively. The combination of minor decoction of the four classical prescriptions has more effective effects.
