Objective:To investigate the clinical significance of intercostobrachial nerve(ICBN) reservation in the modified radical mastectomy of breast cancer. Methods:90cases of breast cancer patients were in progress of in the ameliorative radical resection, ICBN was reserved in 74 cases during axillary lymph node excision,resected in 16 cases.All patients were followed up for the sensory function of internal upper arm affter operations. Results:All of the patients emerged the pain and sensory disturbance in internal upper arm affter operations; the degree and the duration of the the pain and the sensory disturbance were different. The symptoms of the patients of reserving ICBN couldn't remittance and recuperate in short term. All patients were followed up 6~36months after operations,there was no one recidivism. Conclusion:It is feasible to reservate ICBN during axillary lymph node excision in breast cancer operation,and can significantly decrease the postoperative morbidity of arm pain and sensory disturbance, it is goog for increasing the life quality of patients after operation.
