Acupuncture Treatment Of Children With The Clinical Observation Of Optic Atrophy

Purpose:Through clinical observation, an objective assessment of acupuncture treatment of children with optic atrophy of the clinical results and to explore its mechanism.Method:Chinese medicine hospital in Wuhan ophthalmic inpatient and outpatient services from January 2003 to January 2009 diagnosis and treatment of 100 cases of pediatric patients with optic atrophy observations divided into acupuncture group and control group, drug therapy groups, their visual acuity before and after treatment, vision, an analysis of electrophysiological changesResults:(1) Compared two groups of visual acuity before and after treatment, the treatment group significantly increased, with statistical significance (P<0.05), the control group was not significant (P>0.05). (2) the average light sensitivity after treatment compared with those before treatment, the treatment group significantly increased, with statistical significance (P <0.05), the control group without statistical significance (P> 0.05). (3) The comparison of the average defect rate of the two groups there was a decline after treatment, including treatment group was statistically significant (P<0.05), the control group no statistically significant (P>0.05). (4) two sets of visual evoked potential P100 amplitude has been reduced by testing, statistically significant differences between the treatment group (p<0.05), the control group was not statistically significant (p> 0.05). (5) The two sets of P100 latency of visual evoked potentials, after testing, the treatment group was statistically significant (p<0.05), although the control group, shortening, but not statistically significant (p> 0.05). (6) vision to improve the situation, pre-treatment visual acuity≤0.1, the vision to improve efficiency of 62.5%, when the basis of vision "0.1, the vision to improve efficiency was 94%, the two groups by statistical analysis of significant differences. (7) for children OA type, inflammatory efficacy of optic nerve atrophy the best, followed by trauma type, acupuncture treatment on TCM qi and blood deficiency type in the efficacy of the best children's optic atrophy.Conclusion:Acupuncture treatment of children with optic atrophy is valid. Can make the patient's visual acuity increased an average of photosensitive-degree field of vision enhancement and reduction of visual field defects and improve the quality of life of patients and reduce disability; acupuncture treatment for the duration of less than six months, basic vision "0.1, inflammation and trauma type as well as the Chinese sub-type of qi and blood deficiency type of clinical effect is significant; of acupuncture on children, the efficacy of the treatment of optic atrophy was significantly higher than the efficacy of application of drug therapy; acupuncture therapy can improve retinal microcirculation, accelerate the repair of retinal damage; this study Clinical application of acupuncture treatment of children with optic nerve atrophy provide a scientific basis.
