Objective we can provide the basis for evaluation in peri-implantitis diagnosis and treatment through exploring the peri-implant pathogenesis and analysing the distribution prevalance and content of Porphyromonas gingivalis in peri-implantitis patients, chronic pe-riodontitis patients and periodontally healthy adults. Method Subgingival plaque samples were collected from 54 peri-implantitis patients,62 chronic periodontitis patients and 60 pe-riodontally healthy adults. P. gingivalis were detected by 16S rRNA polymerase chain reac-tion. Results The prevalance of P. gingivalis differed significantly in patients with peri-implantitis, patients with chronic periodontitis and periodontally healthy adults(p<0.001). The prevalance of P. gingivalis in disease sites of patients with peri-implantitis, chronic pe-riodontitis and periodontally healthy adults was 8.33%,82.26% and 87.04% respectively. The Ct of P. gingivalis in peri-implantitis, chronic periodontitis and periodontally healthy adults was 0.0126,0.0347±0.0016 and 0.0543±0.0018. There is no difference about Ct of P. gingivalis in patients with peri-implantitis and patients with chronic periodontitis(p>0.05). Ct of P. gingivalis in peri-implantitis is higher than chronic periodontitis(p<0. 05). Conclusion These results indicate a possible association between chronical periodontal disease, chronical peri-implantitis disease and content of P. gingivalis, Implant denture need more special maintenance.
