An Experimental Study On The Blends Of Clove And Curcuma's Influence On Stomach Emptying In Mice

Objective: To explore the blends of clove and curcuma's influence on stomach emptying in mice by measuring its effect on mice gastric motility. Methods:The blends of different effective ingredients of clove and curcuma fried liquid was choosed for this experimental study.Through testing the residual rate of methyl orange, observing the gastric emptying of different groups of mice that didn't use drugs, had subcutaneous injection of clove, or curcuma, or the blends of clove and curcuma separately. Results:(1) Cloves fried liquid, clove essential oil had effect on gastric emptying in mice. (2) Common turmeric, green curcuma longa could promote gastric emptying, while there was no significant difference for yellow curcuma longa, turmeric to promote gastric emptying. (P> 0.05). (3)The blends of clove fried liquid and curcuma fried liquid showed its promotion in gastric emptying in mice, while the mixture of clove essential oil and turmeric fried liquid maked no difference. Conclusion:1. Cloves fried liquid can promote gastrointestinal movement in mice 2. The effect curcuma has on gastrointestinal movement depends on its species, in which turmeric and green turmeric can promote gastric emptying in mice.3. The pharmacological effects the blends of clove essential oil and curcuma fried liquid have an gastric emptying is to weaken its action in mice, that is, the clove essential oil and curcuma fried liquid have mutual inhibition which corresponds with TCM theory on mutual inhibition between clove and curcuma.4. The blends of clove fried liquid and curcuma fried liquid have an synergistic effect on gastric emptying in mice. So they can increase the effect of each other.
