Objective To explore the changes of plasma endotoxin and D-lactate during intestinal mucosal barrier injury of acute bowel obstruction in different period of time. Methods Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group,sham-operation group and acute bowel obstruction group. Plasma endotoxin and D-lactate were determined at 8,24,72 and 168 hours after operations. Results A significant elevation in endotoxin levels was found at 8 hours after Operations,The level decreased in 24 hours, then the plasma endotoxin increased obviously with time.A significant elevation in D-lactate levels was found at 8 hours, the level decreased in 24 and 168 hours, rised in 72 hours.Endotoxin and D-lactate were positively correlated(r=0.503, P<0.01). The difference between sham-operation group and acute bowel obstruction group was significant (P<0.05).Conclusions The Severity of endotoxemia of acute bowel obstruction was correlated with time. D-lactate can be used as early warning indexes to endotoxemia, and endotoxin can be used as indexes to evaluate the function of the intestinal mucosal barrier.
