ObjectivesTo explore elderly inpatients satisfaction and its influencing factors from a hospital in Changsha, to explore the psychological needs of older hospitalized patients and its influencing factors from a hospital in Changsha, and to provide reference besis for the hospital medical service quality management.MethodsThis study used by simple random sampling taken from 25 departments of a grade 3 Hospital in Changsha during May 2009 to July, including respiratory medicine, bone surgery, veteran cadres, obstetrics and gynecology, and epidemiology 2, totally 9 Branch sections of the aged hospitalized inpatients were involved in this study. Satisfaction Scale and psychological needs scale were collected to study the satisfaction and psychological needs of 788 elderly hospitalized inpatients and to asses the possible affecting factors.Rusults1. The man inpatients slightly more than women, urban population-based, mainly concentrated in the 73 years of age. Education of patients mainly in high school and secondary school, junior high and below two levels, the lowest number of master's and above. People with medical insurance companies for medical treatment. Close to 70% of patients had monthly income below 2,000 yuan, less high-income patients. Patient's occupation were more varied, with most one-third of workers.2. Patient's quality of hospital care and higher overall satisfaction and overall satisfaction to reach 4.15±0.53. Inpatient satisfaction scores top five were:the attitude of physicians cordial and good (4.55±0.62), when you need to call, the staff immediately to deal with (4.53±0.64), the attitude of nurses friendly and good (4.52±0.55), rounds per day during hospitalization, careful medical and nursing staff (4.48±0.36), health care technology a good blood injection (4.43±0.45), of which three belong to the attitude of medical personnel, two belong to the medical staff skills.3. The degree of psychological needs of aged hospitalized patients in Changsha scores 4.36±0.48. The first three top score of Inpatient Mental demand were:a stable condition with no relapse (4.68±0.42), medical personnel regularly communicate with their patients (4.63±0.60), drug use and observation of adverse reactions and treatment (4.59±0.59), among which one item involves the treatment expectations pass, one emotional exchange, one disease knowledge.4.The stepwize regression method showed:career civil servants, university and higher education level, monthly income of 3,000 yuan or older hospitalized patients were satisfied with the degree of the main factors. Universities and higher education level, monthly income of 3,000 yuan more than the psychological needs of older hospitalized patients was a major factor. Teachers and scientific and technical personnel, civil servants were two groups in this overall satisfaction was significantly lower than other academic groups.5. The Cronbach a coefficient of satisfaction was 0.8567, which was higher than standard. So, we conclude that the questionnaires was very credible. According to the results of factor analysis, the questionnaire is divided into six categories, namely, medical facilities and environment, medical personnel skills, attitude of medical staff, medical expenses, management efficiency, treatment, and have some of the six aspects of overall satisfaction completely consistent, indicating that the higher the validity of the questionnaire.Conclusions1. Elderly inpatients in the hospital in Changsha satisfaction score is relatively high. The highest scores of various projects concerning the attitude of the medical staff are all 4.45±0.62, the lowest scores of the project,3.86±0.63, concerns the medical expenses.2. Overall satisfaction with the elderly hospitalized patients the main factors are:career civil servants, more than 3,000 yuan monthly income and educational level of university and above, with the income level, higher level of education, patient satisfaction reduced3. The psychological needs of elderly inpatients is about 4.36±0.48. Expectations of elderly inpatients for treatment scores the highest in each item, reaching 4.56±0.39, need to adapt to the community, about 3.92±0.46, is the lowest-scoring items.4. The psychological needs of elderly inpatients is a major factor in more than 3,000 yuan monthly income and educational level of university and above, with the income level, education level increased, the patient's psychological needs increase.
