Objective To investigate the effects of lidocaine against myocardium injury following renal ischemia reperfusion in rats. Methods Thirty-six male rats weighing 300-350g were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 3% pentobarbital 50 mg·kg-1.The animals were randomly assigned into 3 groups (n=12 each). In group sham-operated bilateral renal arterys were exposed but not occluded. In group I/R the bilateral renal arterys were occluded for 60 min with the atraumatic microclip and released for 4 h reperfusion. In I/R+lidocaine group received a bolus of 5 mg·kg-1 lidocaine 5 min before reperfusion. In group sham and I/R the animals received same amount of normal saline instead of lidocaine. End of 4 h reperfusion blood samples were taken from arteria carotis for determination of plasma H-FABP(heart fatty acid binding protein), NE(neutrophil elastase), TNF-α(tumor necrosis factor-α). The animals were then sacrificed and the myocardium were obtained for determination of expression of NE and TNF-α.Results Renal and myocardium histopathology lesions of lidocaine pretreatment group decreased significantly after ischemia reperfusion, H-FABP,NE, TNF-αwere significantly higher in group I/R than in group sham (P<0.05),The expression of TNF-αwas significantly higher in group I/R than in group sham (P<0.05), it was significantly lower in group L than in group I/R (P<0.05)Conclusions Lidocaine can attenuate the myocardium injury was induced by renal ischemia reperfusion. It may be connecting with reducing of myocardial nertrophil infiltration, neutrophil elastase and lower expression of TNF-αafter the renal ischemia reperfusion.
