Objective: To study the variation of the Han adolescent bone development in Henan, Hainan and Zhejiang provinces and analyze the significance of the variation in age determination by skeleton, and then approach the applicated value of mathematical model functions in bone age evaluation.Methods: Six big joints, including dorsal position chest position and pelvis position radiograms of Han adolesecents (age:12.00-19.00) from Henan, Hainan and Zhejiang areas of china were exposed. There were 852 males, 427 from Henan, 182 from Hainan and 243 from Zhejiang. And there were 599 females, 402 from Henan and 197 from Zhejiang. 24 skeletal development indexes were analyzed based on"The Grading Standards"of skeletal growth of teenagers. The variation of the Han male adolescent bone development in Henan, Hainan and Zhejiang provinces were analyzed. Based on it, we calculated the bone age of subjects using mathematical model functions. And then to compared analyze the relative value which between bone age and chronological age. Then we gain the correction value and correction formula of Han adolescents in different areas.Results: Male: The development of Hainan male adolescents'skeleton advanced to Henan, Zhejiang about 1.10 years, 1.27 years at 12.00-13.00 age segment The development of Hainan male adolescents'skeleton advanced to Henan, Zhejiang about 0.70 years,1.37 years at 13.00-14.00 age segment, and the development of Henan male adolescents'skeleton advanced to Zhejiang about 0.67 years. The development of Hainan male adolescents'skeleton retarded to Henan about 0.79 years at 18.00-19 .00age segment. The development of Hainan male adolescents'skeleton retarded to Henan, Zhejiang in boys about 0.71 years, 0.95 years at 19.00-20.00 age segment. There is no statistics significance in other section.The correction value and correction formula of male adolescents is +1.29 years and y1=1.95x0.80 in Henan area;The correction value and correction formula of male adolescents is +1.76 years and y2=1.45x0.93 in Hainan area;The correction value and correction formula of male adolescents is +1.43 years and y3=2.67x0.68 in Zhejiang area.Female: The development of Henan female adolescents'skeleton advanced to Zhejiang about 0.39 years at 14.00-15 .00 age segment. The development of Henan femal adolescents'skeleton was retarded to Zhejiang about 0.37 years at 15.00-16.00 age segment. The development of Henan female adolescents'skeleton was retarded to Zhejiang about 0.38 years at 18.00-19.00 age segment. There is no statistics significance in other section.The correction value and correction formula of female adolescents is -0.04 years and y1=1.36x0.89 in Henan area;The correction value and correction formula of female adolescents is -0.15 years and y2=1.72x0.80 in Hainan area.Conclusions: There are variations of the Han adolescents bone development between different areas. Correction value was used made the methods estimated the bone age to more scientific and accurate. This study results also are valuable to the anthropology, clinical medicine and so on.
