Objective: To explore the role of stereotactic biopsy in intracranial multiple lesions. Methods: Between February 2008 and February 2010,16 patients with intracranial multiple lesions underwent MRI-guided stereotactic biopsy, aimed to obtain pathological diagnosis. Results: Pathological diagnosis was made in all of 16 patients. Histologic diagnosis was mycosis of brain in 1 patient, brain cysticercosis in 1,nonpurulent infection in 3, astrocytoma in 6, non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 1, metastasis in 4. No one had obvious complications. Conclusion: MRI-guided stereotactic biopsy has been widely applied in clinic due to the high diagnosis yield, low complication rate, little trauma, rapid recovery and so on. Especially for the pathological diagnosis of the intracranial multiple lesions of the complicated patients, stereotactic biopsy is a reliable method. Histological findings obtained by stereotactic procedures guided the choice of the further treatment, avoiding the risks of blind treatment.
