| Objective:To observe the effect on appetite regulation of the obesity patients with acupuncture therapy. To investigate the mechanism of appetite regulation of the obesity patients with acupuncture therapy. To determine the clinical effect of the obesity patients with acupuncture therapy.Methods: 74 obesity cases were randomized to two groups,treatment group (group A,n=48) received traditional acupuncture theapy,control group (group B,n=26) received acupuncture theapy of placebo. Two groups were treated with acupuncture therapy on acupoint 12 around Neval and liangqie,zusanli,yinlinquan.The therapies were once every other day,12 times in total.Obseving the changes of their BMI,the VAS scores of desire to eat,hunger,fullness and prospective food consumption,survival rate of gastric liquid before and after treatment.Results:â‘ The BMI obviously declined post treatment in group A,compared to group B,the differences were significant (P<0.05);â‘¡The VAS scores of desire to eat,hunger and prospective food consumption had significant differences(P<0.05) post treatment between group A and group B & pre and post treatment of group A(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between group A and group B on the VAS scores of fullness (P>0.05).â‘¢There was no correlation between the changes of BMI and score of VAS( P<0.05).â‘£The survival rate of gastric liquid obviously enhanced post treatment in group A. The differences were significant (P<0.05) between group A and group B & pre and post treatment of group A(P<0.01). Conclusion:â‘ Acupuncture therapy can reduce the BMI of the obesity patients,while proving the effectiveness of acupuncture therapy to the obesity patients.â‘¡Acupuncture therapy can regulate to appetite of the obesity patients Obviously,it can control food intake and lose weight by slowing down gastric emptying,reducing the desire to eat of patients.â‘¢JianYunPiWei, HuaTanXiaozhi treatment of acupuncture therapy is the basic treatment principle of the obesity.
