Objective To investigate the characteristics of clinic and pathology ,improve recognition of hazard, and to provide treatment and prevention reference in young patients with colorectal cancer. Methods Retrospective studies the general data ( age and gender ) ,clinical manifestation, clinical pathological characteristic (including tumor location, type of tumor mass, subtypes of tumor, tumor differentiation, tumor size and infiltration depth, lymphatic metastasis and distant metastasis, tumor marker)from 193 colorectal cancer patients of age≦45 in our hospital during January 2000 to December 2009.Controlled with 200 patients selected in random from colorectal cancer patients of age≧60 in the same period in our hospital.Statistical analysis of data using chi-square tests. Results Young patients with colorectal cancer accounts for the same period in colorectal cancer 12.20%, and there is no significant differences in disease incidence rate between sexes.Young patients with colorectal cancer principal manifestation are bloody purulent stool(53.37%),and bellyache(24.87%),there is no significant differences in site of tumor(P﹥0.05),is primarily rectal cancer(59.07%) and sigmoid colon cancer(23.32%).Type of tumor mass, pathology types, tissue type, differentiate degree and staging between young patients and controlled cases is significant(P﹤0.05).Hyp differentiated cancer including myxo adencarcinoma, signet ring cell carcinoma, poorly differentiated are 119 cases(61.65%),C and D stage in Dukes staging altogether 139 cases(72.02%). Conclusions1 The clinical features of young patients with colorectal cancer is diversification and lack of typicality, but the principal manifestation are bloody purulent stool and bellyache. So we must improve our alert to interrelated symptoms,it is helpful for us to early diagnosis by improving recognition and early colonscopy, sigmoidoscope and digital rectal examination in colorectal cancer.2 Young patients with colorectal cancer has a worse histological differentiation, higher malignant degree ,worse Dukes staging, and lower rates of radical operation and survival. The early detection and diagnosis of young patients with colorectal cancer is very difficult. In order to improve the early diagnosis and prognosis, we can launch FOBT survey positively in the high risk group at regular intervals and pay attention to digital rectal examination and colonscopy in colorectal cancer.
