Objective To study clinical effect and significance of the arterial chemoembolization in treatment patients with cervical cancer. Methods Retrospective study 101 patients with cervical cancer who received the arterial chemoembolization in department of Gynecology the Affilicated Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from January 2001 to January 2009, to observe the therapeutic effect of the arterial chemoembolization. Results 1.Have successfully completed 94 cases of arterial chemoembolization, due to tumor invasion or more blood branches and other factors, 7 cases pelvic blood supply showed unclear, only with arterial chemotherapy without embolization.2.The arterial chemoembolization in patients with vaginal bleeding, lumbosacral pain, lower abdomen and anus bulge symptoms were significantly improved, clinical symptom remission rate was 100%. 7 cases with massive hemorrhage, vaginal bleeding ceased after arterial chemoembolization.3.B-mode ultrasonography measured tumor size before and after the arterial chemoembolization in 95 cases ,outcome showed tumor volume significantly reduced after surgery, total effective rate was 78.95%.4.After arterial chemoembolization, 79 cases were had surgical opportunities, operation rate 78.22%. Operation course of all patients were smoothly completed, resection to achieve the desired requirements, cervical lesions significantly reduced, local tissue anatomy cleared, uterine tissue soft and flexible; easy dissection of ureteral tunnel, vaginal bladder clearance, bladder and rectum vaginal cervical clearance gap, were less bleeding. 5.Tumor Pathological grade Significantly decreased after arterial chemoembolization. Conclusions 1.Arterial chemoembolization in Cervical cancer patients before surgery or radiotherapy can significantly improve the clinical symptoms, reduced tumor volume, lower tumor pathological grade and improve the resection rate, which also fight for the chance of operation for patients without surgical opportunity previously.2.Arterial chemoembolization is one of the comprehensive treatments, which can be used as auxiliary treatment in patients with cervical cancer, safe and feasible, less side effects, the therapeutic value of excellent and good prospect, which is worthy to be popularized in clinical.
