Objective: By the analysis and comparison of the Monteggia fracture , using the two treatment methods of the foot of percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation of bone with the reduction and external fixation techniques, we choose a more effective method which has simple operation and can avoid or reduce complications of effective treatment ,so that we can improve clinical effect of the Monteggia fracture. Methods: By manual medical records documentation of eligible text cases,56 cases which meet the requirements of the foot of percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation of bone (treatment group) and 54 cases which treated with closed reduction and external fixation (control group) ,( 110 cases totally), we compare the two methods by the healing times, effect of restoration (surgery, postoperative week, after four weeks) and totall effect, using the SPSS13.0 software for statistical analysis of the results. Results: It has significantly different effect with the two groups of fracture healing time; while the effect of restoration has no significant difference .The effect of reset conditions has significantly difference after 1 week and 4 weeks treatments. We statistically analyze the two groups with the overall effect of the situation, which has significant and statistical difference. Conclusion: 1. Healing time of the foot of percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation of bone is shortter than the time of the manual reduction and external fixation of bone. So the patients can get an earlier functional exercises. 2. The effect of the foot of percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation of bone is better, which can give a more effective and strong fix. 3. The overall effect of the foot of percutaneous Kirschner wire fixation of bone is better than the external fixation techniques. It's an effective method of curing the Monteggia fracture.
