Objective:By the investigation of the effect on lowing body-temperature, anti-inflammation, and fighting free radicals injury of compatibility of Chinese Thorowax Root (CTR) and Lobed Kudzuvine Root(LKR) in fever rats to demonstrate that the compatibility of the two drugs can enhance the above functions and find out the best compatible proportions of the two medicines on each aspects. Methods:Fifty-six SD male rats are randomly dividing into 7 groups:control group, model group, aspirin group, CTR group, LKR group, CTR and LKR 3:2 group, CTR and LKR 4:5 group; 8 rats each. Besides control group, other rats are induced by the injection of 20% dry yeast suspension 10ml/kg in the back skin to establish the fever rat models. And then take the aspirin, CTR, LKR, CTR and LKR compatible proportions of 3:2 and 4:5 into the physic liquor, make the intragastric administration as the treatment respectively. Observing body-temperature, the content of IL-1βand NO, the activity of MPO and iNOS in blood serum of the fever rats. Results:(1) CTR group, LKR group and their different compatible proportions all have the effect of lowing the temperature, and compared to model group (P< 0.05 or P< 0.01), the compatible proportion of 4:5 group has the best effect in this aspect, but from the point of proportion, there is no group can catch up with aspirin. (2) CTR, LKR and their different compatible proportions all have the effect of decreasing the content of IL-1β,the activity of MPO in blood serum, and compared to model group (P< 0.05 or P< 0.01), the combined ratio of 4:5 has the best effect in this aspect, as effective as aspirin. (3) CTR,LKR and their different compatible proportions all have the effect of decreasing the activity of iNOS, the content of NO in blood serum, and compared to model group (P< 0.05 or P< 0.01), the combined ratio of 4:5 has the best effect in this aspect and it has more effective than aspirin. Conclusion:(1) Compatible application of CTR and LKR has significantly synergistic effect on lowing the temperature, anti- inflammation, and fighting free radical injury, which reveals the scientific character of compatible application. (2) The best compatible proportion on lowing the body temperature, anti-inflammation, and fighting free radical injury is 4:5. (3)The mechanism of bringing down the fever of compatible application of CTR and LKR might be through decreasing the content of IL-1βand the activity of MPO in blood serum to lowing the body-temperature indirectly; by reducing the activity of iNOS, the content of NO and other free radicals in blood serum to reduce body damage from heat.
