A Clinicalcom Parative Study Between Endoscopic Thyroideetomy By Breast Approach And Eonventional Open Thyroideetomy

Objective; Aim of this study was to investigate endoscopic thyroidectomy by breast approach and eonventional open thyroidectomy Method:From July 2008 to August 2010, we collected 411 cases which were treated in the surgical treatment of thyroid diseases in Xinjiang Medical University attached tumour Hospital, including endoscopic thyroidectomy 192 cases (all with endoscopic thyroidectomy via areola breast approach) and open thyroidectomy 219 cases. The two groups were contrasted in operative time, peri-operative bleeding, hospital stay, hospital costs, postoperative pain scores and so on. Result:Peri-operative bleeding in endoscopic thyroidectomy group (24.6+12.6) ml was less than this in open thyroidectomy group (36.9±10.4) ml; hospital stay (5.2±2.3) d compared with open thyroidectomy group (7.3±2.8) d was shorter; the cost of endoscopic thyroidectomy (8171.9±1261.9) yuan compared with open thyroidectomy group (7492.5±1262.3) yuan was higher.182 patients in endoscopic thyroidectomy group and 24 patients in open thyroidectomy group thought the cosmetic effect was satisfactory.Conclusion:Endoscopic using in thyroidectomy had less peri-operative bleeding, shorter hospital stay, rapider postoperative recovery, better cosmetic results, which was a safe, effective and feasible surgical technique.
