Objective:To judge the value of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of the carotid artery disease before CEA by evaluating the veracity of ultrasonography and computer tomography angiography in the patients of carotid artery stenosis, Methods:The imaging data of ultrasonography and Computer Tomography Angiography of 34 patients of carotid artery stenosis are compared with those standards that measured actual carotid stenosis in operations. The consistency and clinical value of two methods are analyzed. Results:In the 34 patients of carotid artery stenosis, the coincidence rates of diagnosing carotid stenosis by ultrasonography and CTA are:89.5%and 92.1%; The Kappa coefficient by ultrasonography and operative findings is 0.795; The Kappa coefficient by ultrasonography and CTA is 0.734. The results of carotid artery stenosis in 34 patients by the ultrasonography and CTA are consistent with the operative findings. Conclusion: Ultrasonography and CTA are both highly accurate in evaluating the degree of stenosis. The ultrasonography could be used as an important examination instead of CTA before CEA in future.
