Objective: ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP) is an important complication of the mechanical ventilation. To analyse the pathogenesis and the drug-resistance of VAP in intensive care unit(ICU) in order to provide a refrence for the use of antibiotics. Methods: Based on the bacterial identification and drug-sensitive experiment of 70 VAP patients in ICU from January to December 2010 ,did the retrospective analysis of the bacterial distribution and drug-resistance of the 70 VAP patients.Result: among 133 strans of pathogens from 70 VAP patients, the Gram-negative bactillis occupied 59.3%, Acinetobacter baumannii occupuid 24.8%, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia occupied 8.3%, Pseudomonas aeruginosa occupied 7.5%, Escherichia coli occupied 6.0%, 50% of which produced extended spectrum beta-lactamases(ESBLs). the rest of the Gram-negative bactillis occupied 12.7%; the Gram-positive bacteria were 22.5%, the Staphylococcus epidermidis occupied 6.7%, 77.8% of which were methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermis(MRSE). Staphylococcus haemolyticus were 4.5%, Staphylococcus aureus occupied 3.7%, 40% of which were methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA). the enterococcus faecium occupied 3.1%. at last, the fungi contained Candida mycoderma bactenias and Aspergillus occupied 18.2%. the drug-resistance suggest that amoslt all of the pathogens were resistant to the antibiotics. Conclusion: the Gram-negatives represented a major componet of the pathogens of VAP patients.Carbapenem antibiotics can be used as the first chose of the Gram-negative bactilli, the Vancomycin is good for the Gram-positive bactilli. What's more, the use of the sensitve antibiotics plays an important role in the clinical treatment of VAP.
