Acanthus ilicifoliusL is a kind of Acanthaceae Mangrove,which can clear heat,detumescent,stop the cough,and release the asthma.It is mainly used to cure the tumescence of lymph and spleen,the acute or chronic hepatitis, stomach pain,cough,and asthma.There are about 50 kinds of Acanthus ilicifoliusL around the word,and all of them grow on the tidy field around the beach. The Acanthus ilicifoliusL,small-Flower Acanthus ilicifoliusL,and ShaMen Acanthus ilicifoliusL,can be found in Guangdong,Guangxi,Fujian,and Hainan province in China.It is used as a medicine to cure hepatitis by folks.In recent years.many pharmacology researches obout Acanthus ilicifoliusL have been reported.Through the researches we found that 70% ethanol extracts of the leaves can release the damage caused by CCl4.It can also promate the degradation of the matrix out the cell,and weaken the fibrosis of liver. In vitro experiments also indicate that the activities of the extract of leaves to clear the radical is probably the reason to release the damage caused by CCl4.To reveal the relationship between the dosage and efficacy.in order to found the active ingredient of Acanthus ilicifoliusL,we prepare the extract from different solvent.The protcetion of each abstract on the mice which are injured by feeding CCl4.The pharmaceutical study indicated that the butanol extract reduced the amount of ALT and AST in the blood and the amount of MDA in liver of the mice whose livers have benn damaged by CCl4. The butanol extracts of Acanthus ilicifoliusL is the fraction which show protective effects on acute liver injury.By means of normal pressure silica gel column chromatography.as also as RP-silica gel and SephadexLH-20 and so on,8 compounds were isolated from the butanol extracts. Based on the physical and chemical features and UV.IR.'H-NMR, 13 C-NMR, four compounds are identified as:4-hydroxy-2- benzoxazolinone(I) Stigmasterol-3-O-B-D-glucopyranoiside (â…¡),2-benzoxazolinone (â…¢), (2R)-2-O-B-D-glucopyranosyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (â…¤),7-chloro-(2R)-2-O-B-D-gluc-opyr-an-osyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (â…¦).The content of 2-benzoxazolinone in Acanthus ilicifoliusL was measured at 0.0425% by HPLC.The results provide the foundation to enhance the clinical use of Acanthus ilicifoliusL and reveal the effective components of Acanthus ilicifoliusL curing the hepatic disease.
