0bjective :To study the clinical effects and postoperative life quality of the anal conservative surgery(ACS) for the aged patients with low rectal cancer.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed to compare postoperative tumor recurrence, survival and the anus bowel surgery of 50 patients with low rectal cancer undergoing ACS and 40 patients undergoing Miles surgery.Results:The patients undergoing ACS has high curative incidence but low incidence of incontinence.Local recurrence rate and 3-year survival rate of these patients were 18.0% and 55.4% respectively.both of which were comparable to those of the patients undergoing Miles surgery. Few patients suffered from I°incontinence.Conclusion: ACS for the aged patients of low rectal cancer is e1igible and could improve their quality of life.
