Objective:To explore the factors affecting anal function and quality of life of patients after laparoscopic surgery for middle and low rectal cancer. Methods:Clinical and follow-up data of 40 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical resection for middle and low rectal cancer from January 2016 to june 2017 were analyzed retrospectively.thewexner scoring scale was used to evaluate the anal function.quality of life was evaluated by using EORTC QLQ-C30 scale and FIQL scale.the actors affecting anal function and quality of life were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. Results:All patients completed the three scales above with mean follow-up of 12 months.univariate analysis revealed that the distance from tumor to anal verge, the distance from anastomosis to anal verge and neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy were correlated with wexner score(P<0.05).multivariate analysis suggested these three factors were independent factors for anal function(R2=0.688,P<0.05).in EORTC QLQ-C30 scale, patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy before surgery showed significantly worse physical function, rolefunction, general health status and suffered more from aches and diarrhea.there was negative correlation between BMI and emotional function.in FIQL scale, patients who underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy had lower score in lifestyle,coping/behavior and depression/self perception dimensions. Conclusions:The distance from tumor to anal verge, the distance from anastomosis to anal verge and neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy were independent factors for anal function.neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy was the most vital influencing factor related to quality of life of patients.
