BackgroundAs the rhythm of modern life accelerating, insomnia is increasing. At present, there are 120~140 million people suffering from Wakefulness. The rate of insomnia is 10~20%. And 57% of them are female, others are male. Age of 31~50 years old accounted for 51%,51~60 years old accounted for 15%, above 60 years accounted for 18%; cadres, managers, management accounted for 35%, skilled workers and laid-off workers accounted for 30%, retirees accounted for 13%. Acupuncture, as it's harmless, varied and remarkable, is becoming more and more popular.Inclinical, we found that some part of insomnia have a close relationship with cervical spondylosis. Whether treating with the cause is more effective than point selection in accordance with differentiation of syndrome? We chose the cervicalinsomn i a pat ients as research object, with randomi zed control study. Set ing the treatment group and control group. The treatment group mainly chose Cervical Acupoints, the control group chose acupoints in accordance with differentiation of syndrome. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire was chosed as an evaluation index, scientific and systematic evaluation of efficacy. The results are expected to get the evidence-based medicine treatment of cervicalinsomnia with main selection of cervical acupoints, increasing the accuracy of clinical diagnosis for the cause of insomnia, improving the cl inical efficacy of acupuncture treatment, bringing the Gospel to society and family.ObjectivesAnalysing and Evaluating the clinical efficacy on treating cervical insomnia with main selection of cervical acupoints, so as to explore a new and better treatment for insomnia.MethodThe subject according to the principles of evidence-based medicine, DME /epidemiological, referencing the insomnia standard diagnostic criteria and dialectic of "Chinese new drug clinical research guidelines" formulated by Ministry of Health in 1993.60 insomnia patients were selected and randomly divided into the treatment group (main selection of cervical acupoints) and the control group (acupoints in accordance with differentiation of syndrome),according to 1:1 ratio. The Treatment group were treated by main selection of cervical acupoints. The control group were treated by acupoints in accordance with differentiation of syndrome, the operation methods and course is the same as the treatment group. Observing the changing of clinical symptoms, neck palpation symptoms, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index before and after the treatment, using DME, statistical methods such as design issues and statistical analysis of observed data, evaluating the efficacy and safety.ResultAfter the two weeks'treatment, the treatment group,29 patients, the average score of PSQ! was 8.38±2.41; the control group,28 patients, the average score of PSQI was 10.36±2.33, the treatment group was much more effective (P<0.01). Two weeks'after the treatment, the average score of PSQI of the treatment group was 10.52±2.69, while the treatment group was 11.43±2.30, the two group had no significant difference (P>0.05)Analysing the two group's effect rate on each stage, After the two weeks' treatment, the treatment group had an effective rate of 93.1%(8 markedly cases, 19 effective cases and 2 invalid cases), the control group had an effective rate of 75.0% (5 markedly cases,16 effective cases and 7 invalid cases), the two group had no signif icant difference(P>0.05). Two weeks'after the treatment, the treatment group had an effective rate of 75.9% (6 markedly cases,16 effective cases and 7 invalid cases), the control group had an effective rate of 67.9% (4 markedly cases,15 effective cases and 9 invalid cases), the two group had no significant difference (P>0.05)ConelusionMain selection of cervical acupoints on treating cervical insomnia is effective, the effectiveness has no significant difference with acupoints in accordance with differentiation of syndrome two weeks'after the treatment. As cervical acupoints is most effective in the short term, it shows positive signs on treating insomnia patients with neck symptoms by using Cervical Acupoints.
