Objective:To observe and study the effect mechanism of the treatment of Modified Phragmitis Decoction on Acute Episode Chronic Bronchitis (AECB)Methods:60 patients with AECB were randomly divided into two groups. The contr olgroup was treated with western medicine (Ofloxacin tablet,0.4g,Qd) and the treat ment group was treated with Modified Phragmitis Decoction (Rhizoma Phragmitis 30g, Peach Seed 10g, Chinese waxgourd Seed 30g, Coicis Semen 30g, Apricot Seed 10g, Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus 10g, Tatarian Aster Root 10g, Common Coltsfoo t Flower 10g, Houttuynia Cordata 30g, Clam Shell 30g (decoct first), Corium Sto machium Galli 10g, Liquoric Root 6g). Recording symptoms of all patients before a nd after treating. Furthermore, observing the change of the index of ventilation functi on of FVC,FEV1,PEF airways. Then, applying the statistical soft system of Spss 13.0 for windows to analyze the materials.Result:1. Clinical efficacy:The total effective rate of the experimental group was 93.33%, better than that of the control group which was 80.00%(P<0.01). Obviously, the effect of the interventional therapy group surpass the control group(P<0.01).2. Clinical symptom and sign:Clinical symptom and sign:After the treatment, melioration of clinical symptom and sign in both groups have significant difference(P<0.01).Compared with the control group, melioration of the trial group, such as cough, expectoration is greater, showing significant difference.(P<0.01).The above result show that therapy of two groups both can help AEBC, and the trial group is better than the control group.3. Spirometry:After the treatment, melioration of airway functions in both groups have significant difference(P<0.01). Compared with the control group, melioration of the trial group showed no statistically significant (P>0.05)Conclusion:The Modified Phragmitis Decoction is effective on treatment on AEBC and can improve patients symptoms and signs and improve the pulmonary function.
