Objective:To analyze the efficacy for the the Kummell'disease by using Percutaneous vertebropalstyMethods:This article is conducted a retrospectie study on 12 patients with Kummell' disease, who were treated by using Percutaneous vertebropalsty, from the NO.1 Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from 2008 to 2009, each with a complete information and accorded with both of the inclusive criteria and the excluded criteria. The visual analogue scale(VAS)was used to evaluate the relief of the back pain and Oswestry disability Index(ODI)was used to evaluate the disability index, we measured the pre-, post-operative and 6 months anterior body height, middle body height and kyphotic cobb angulation. We will comparison the treatment of Ku mmell'disease. Results:VAS was improved from 6.83±1.26 to 1.58±0.79 (P<0.01). After 6 months, VAS was not recurrented (1.41±0.79 P>0.05). ODI was improved from 78.33±12.69 to 13.58±3.29 (P<0.01). After 6 months, VAS was not recurrented (14.00±2.41 P>0.05). Anterior body height (preoperative 1.70±0.79 cm, postoperative 1.97±0.78 cm,6 months 1.93±0.73 cm), middle body height (preoperative 1.53±0.20 cm, postoperative 1.88±0.26 cm,6 months 1.85±0.34 cm), Cobb angulation (preoperative 10.38±3.04°, postoperative 5.78±1.71°,6 months 6.35±2.20), The vertebral cleft and kyphosis were significant restored (P<0.01), what was not recurrented(P>0.05).Conclusions:Vertebropalsty in the hyperextension posture for treating the Ku mmell' disease is effective and safe.
