| ObjectiveTo explore the effect and return of TCM treatment to CVA as a whole, retrospective follow up and analysis were done in the patients with a diagnose of CVA at Guangdong Hospital of TCM. Besides, the results were compared with the conclusions of the effect and occurrences of classic asthma from CVA the widely accepted treatments which were recorded in Western Medicine clinical literature come to. Futhermore, if possible,to investigate the mechanism of the TCM therapy for the prognosis of CVA.MethodPatients with CVA,who were diagnosed and treated at Guangdong Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine between 2008 and 2010, formed the population for this study. Retrospective follow up and analysis were done in the patients to study their general information and, the characteristics of lung function, and more importantly, the occurrence of classic asthma from CVA.PubMed date base, vipbrowser data basewere searched to retrieve trials with standard treatment on cough variant asthma. Then according with the inclusive criteria we adoped strictly trial, and the treatment duration of treatment follow-up time, occurrence of wheezing were also recorded.Results1. Of the entire group (47 people in total),5(10.6%) developed to typical asthma. Among which 2(8.33%) of 24 developed asthmatic symptoms in pure Chinese medicine treatment group compared with 3 cases (13.04%) of 23 in control group the combination therapy group. While 7 of 10 people who received pulmonary function tests turned negative in bronchial stimulation experiment.2.11 articles about the the western medicine convention treatment were included finally, totally 475 people,68(14.32%)of which developed wheezing。Average incidence was 9.31% in the standard treatment as treatment group, compared with 33.33% in the standard treatment as control group.3. The bronchial hyperresponsiveness of Wheezing group was higher than the non-wheezing's(P<0.05),but others had no differences between the two groups。4. There was no significant difference in reoccurrence rate of coughing and rate of typical asthma between TCM group and combination therapy groupc (P>0.05). So were the days of cough vanishing, cough recurrence and typical asthma processing. The rate of eradication of coughing in TCM group was higher than that of combination group (P<0.05).ConclusionsAfter TCM integration therapy the occurrence of classical asthma maybe had an more downward tendency than the normal treatment, so was the negative conversion rate in.While, TCM therapy deceeased the rate of coughing reoccurrence and that of classical asthma incidence as well as combination group. Nevertheless, Bias was inevitable in retrospective study, adding this study was too small to draw a definite conclusion, therefore, A large, long-term studies was needed to understand the long-time curative effect either with TCM or normal treatment. High airway hyperresponsiveness may be risk factors to CVA which developed classic asthma. |
