Chronic non-communicable disease refers to a kind of diseases mainly caused by the way of life and environmental factors, as chronic disease for short. It has physical-mental attribute and it is harmful to the individual's social function and quality of daily life. Our country is rapidly entering the social patterns of aging population, therefore, the health status of older age group is attracted more attention. The elderly population is the group with high incidence of chronic diseases. This study had illustrated the relationship among urban elder's knowledge, negative emotion and coping styles of chronic diseases by scale self-established of the knowledge level of chronic diseases for elder, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire (MCMQ). Study had found that: Urban elderly patients with chronic diseases showed significantly higher negative emotion level than those without chronic diseases, and the level was above threshold of diagnostic criteria; The possibility of anxiety and depression of elderly patients with chronic diseases induced both is very high; The knowledge level of chronic diseases had significant effect on the levels of both anxiety and depression, and it had a significant negative correlation with them; And it also had significant effect on three types of coping style which are "Face", "Avoidance" and "Resignation", only had a significant negative correlation with "Resignation"; "Face" affected the level of depression significantly with a significant negative correlation, and it had no significant effect on the level of anxiety; "Avoidance" had a significant negative correlation with the level of depression; "Resignation" had a significant effect on the level of anxiety and depression with a significant positive correlation; In addition, social support, religion, course of disease, length of hospitalization and couple's alive or not were the relevant factors with different levels of impact on the relationship among these three mantel processes, among these, social support was a important external factor with very significant impact on it.
