Objective:To investigate the serviceability of Status Epilepticus Severity Score in patients with status epilepticus. To study the relevant factor of prognosis in patients with status epilepticus. And to assess of cognitive function and influencing factors in patients with status epilepticus.Methods:1. Patients with status epilepticus was applied with Status Epilepticus Severity Score (STESS),It was assessed to 40 cases of diagnosed patients with status epilepticus, and to explore its influence factors.2. Select the survival of patients with 20 cases of status epilepticus, Assess cognitive function of them and analysis the related factors of cognitive function,Mini-mental state (MMSE),Digital span test (DST).Digital symbol test (DST),Trail making test (TMT),Verbal fluency test (VFT) were applied to evaluate cognitive function of patients with status epilepticus. Result:1.Assess the severity of status epilepticus(1) STESS has a high forecast function for the prognosis of patients with status epilepticus, and the prognosis of patients with low grade was better. (2) Single factor analysis:History of previous seizures, seizure type, consciousness before treatment associated closely with the better prognosis(P<0.05). However, gender, age, etiology,≥1 hour after treatment had no effect on prognosis of patients with status epilepticus (P>0.05).The mortality rate is set to be variable, the seven factors of gender, age, etiology,, past history of seizures, seizure types, consciousness before treatment,≥1 hour after treatment were set to be argument by Logistic regression analysis. Prognosis was positively correlated with consciousness before treatment, there was significant difference(P<0.05). Consciousness before treatment was an independent risk factor for mortality of patients with status epilepticus.2. Assess cognitive function of status epilepticus(1) General subjects:20 cases of status epilepticus,9 males and 11 females, mean (32.9±13.905) years old. level of education (10.1±3.552) years; control group 20 cases, 10males and 10 females, mean (32.85±14.604) years old, level of education (11.25±5.230) years. There were no significant difference of gender, age, education level in two groups.(2) Cognitive features:Neuropsychologic test of status epilepticus were lower than normal control group by applying with MMSE, DST of WAIS-R, DST,TMTand VFT,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).(3) Influencing factors of congnitive function:Level of education, age and the number of medication were the main factors affecting cognitive function of patients with status epilepticus by multivariate stepwise regression analysis, particular level of education was the most evident.Conclusions:1.STESS is excellent forecast function for the prognosis of patients with status epilepticus:low-scoring of patients may survive. The factors of history of previous seizures, the seizure type of generalized convulsive and nonconvulsive status epilepticus influence the prognostic. Consciousness before treatment is an independent risk factor for mortality of status epilepticus.2.Patients with status epilepticus have cognitive impairment including memory function, executive function, verbal ability, computing power, etc. Level of education, induced coma, the number of drugs have an impact on cognitive function, Education level is a major influencing factor in cognitive function.
