0bjective Through exairesis tonsil and or adenoid hypertrophy which lead to sleep disordered breathing(SDB),To research the investigation of adenotonsillectomy on quality of life in children with sleep disordered breathing.Methods Pediatric SDB disease-specific quality of life survey (OSA-18) were used to analysis in 30 cases because of tonsil and or adenoid hypertrophy within 1 week before surgery,and were followed up in 6 months post-operation.To evaluate the influnce of SDB in quality of life(QOL) for children and its changes before and after surgery.They were treated by tonsillectomy in 6 cases and adenoid tonsillectomy in 22 cases ,adenoidectomy alone in 2 cases.Results The total OSA-18 scores and the scores for all domains showed significant improvement after surgery for SDB of children(P<0.01).The domains of sleep disturbance,physical suffering and caregiver con-cerns are significantly improved.The impact of pediatric OSAHS on QOL Was severe in 43.33% patient.After surgery,the total scores of QOL were improved in 63.33% cases in general.Conclusions Pediatric SDB had severely influenced in quality of 1ife of children.Surgical therapy with adenotonsillectomy was associated with marked improvement in quality of life for children.OSA-18can be a valuable measure in clinica1 diagnosis and treatment follow-up.
