Objective:By analysing the clinical characteristics of the colorectal cancer in elderly patients over 70 years old ,to investigate the perioperative treatment and the operation methods.Methods: Data of 97 elderly patients over 70 years old with colorectal carcinoma in general material, clinical manifestations, course of diseases,comorbidities,tumor location,surgical methods,pathologic features, complications and postoperative average length of hospitalization from March,2009 to March 2010, were retrospectively analysis: the selected conditions were over 70 years old and han got surgery treatment in our hospital,male 70 cases,female 27cases,age 70-87 years old, the average age of the patients are 75.7 years old; 43 cases with colon cancer,52 cases with rectal cancer and 2 cases with many primary colorectal cancer.Results: The mainly first symptoms of the elderly patients of colorectal cancer were bloody stools altered bowel habits and abdominal pain;the patients have a long course of disease; There were 78 cases (80.41%) accompany with comorbidities,which mainly were angiocardiopathy,respiratory diseases, diabetes mellitus and braindiseases. 83 cases were undergone radical resection(85.57%), the number of the clinical stage of DukesC,D were 61 cases(62.89%), postoperative complication rate was 25.77%(25 cases),the postoperative average length of hospitalization was 18.7±8.0 days,there was no operative deaths.Conclusion: The comorbidities is one of the main factors in influencing the recover after surgery,but good preparation and corrective perioperative processing can preventing and reducing the postoperative complications formation.The age is not the main obstacle element that undergo surgery operation of colorectal caccer in the elderly patients over 70 years old.
