Objective:To investigate the surface electromyographic (sEMG) characteristic of trunk muscle in inverted suspended traction exercise, and evaluate the effectiveness the inverted suspended traction exercise in the treatments of low back pain.Methods:16 healthy males were chosen to investigate the surface electromyographic characteristic of trunk muscle in inverted suspended traction exercise and prone extensor expansion exercise on the level bed. We measured and recorded sEMG signals of both sides'rectus abdominis, external oblique and sacrospinous muscle when the subjects practicing three different movement. The software with the sEMG instrument own was used to process the electronic signals, and then the following indexes were sampled:integrated EMG (iEMG) and root mean square (RMS).Then we use SPSS17.0 statistical analysis software to do statistical treatment.Results:(1) Not only the left and right erector spinae channels can get iEMC,RMS signals, but also the left and right rectus abdominis, external oblique muscle channels get iEMG,RMS signals, When the subject do the waist extensor expansion on horizontal position and inverted suspended traction position. (2) When the subject do waist extensor expansion, dextral rotation and sinistral rotation, each channel for inverted traction prone position get distinct higher iEMG,RMS values than those for level bed prone position.Conclusion:(1) In this test for extensor expansion, we find there is distinct electromyographic signal for abdominal muscle group and vertebra muscle group. It illuminates that when waist extensor expansion, the abdominal muscle group has an action for vertebral column steady and antagonism extensor expansion.(2) Compared for Electromyographic signal from each channel for the defined action on pronating on the level bed and inverted traction pronation, we can see the surface electromyographic signal of inverted traction pronation is much higher than which of level bed pronation. So we can conclude that for the muscle strength training of waist and abdominal muscle, inverted traction pronation had better efficiency than level bed pronation.
