Nipple discharge is one of the common symptoms of breast diseases. It is about 3%~8% in clinical incidence, most of them are due to benign or malignant tumor in breast ducts. It is rather difficult to distinguish benign or malignant, and the range of tumor in breast duct. The traditional examination methods, such as ultrasound, mammography, galactography,MRI,cytology, are not good enough in diagnosis, need further investigation. Fiberoptic ductoscopy can not only see the lesion in breast duct, but also definite the position and range of lesion. Objective To investigate the value of fiberoptic ductoscopy in early diagnosis of nipple discharge. Methods Select 40 patients who have nipple discharge, they are all females, their ages are between 24~74 years old, average age is 47.7 years. Among them,13 patients are bloody nipple discharge,25 patients are yellow color nipple discharge,2 patients are white color nipple discharge. Six of them have masses. They all received surgical treatment, the diagnosis results of fiberoptic ductoscopy, ultrasound and pathology are compared respectively. Results 40 patients with nipple discharge are diagnosed as 30 intraductal papillomas,4 intraductal carcinomas, and 6 mammary duct ectasias by fiberoptic ductoscopy.40 patients with nipple discharge are diagnosed as 27 intraductal papillomas,4 intraductal carcinomas, and 4 mammary duct ectasias according to pathological examination, the coincidence rate is 87.5%. 40 patients with nipple discharge are diagnosed as 9 intraductal papillomas,3 intraductal carcinomas, and 28 mammary duct ectasias by ultrasound,40 patients with nipple discharge are diagnosed as 6 intraductal papillomas,3 intraductal carcinomas, and 3 mammary duct ectasias according to pathological examination, the coincidence rate is 30%.Conclusion1. There are several reasons of nipple discharge, intraductal papilloma is the most common disease, mammary duct ectasia is the second, and intraductal carcinoma is the third. The yellow discharges are the most discharges, and the next are the bloody discharges. Nipple discharge patients with breast masses are usually intraductal papilloma patients.2. On the early diagnosis of nipple discharge diseases, Fiberoptic ductoscopy is better than ultrasound. Fiberoptic ductoscopy can show mammary duct tumor or lesion position, size, appearance, colouration, benign or malignant.
