ObjectiveTo investigate the major risk factors in peripheral phlebitis while infusing Kabiven with vein detained needle and provide theoretical basis for effective prevention and nursing measures.Methods153 patients were recruited who underwent operations on gastrointestinal malignancy from May 2009 to April 2010. All patients received puncture with vein detained needles and Kabiven 1440 infusion via single peripheral veins within 2 hours postoperatively and were observed per 12 hours. According to diagnosis standards o phlebitis, patients with phlebitis were divided into trial group and others as control. The common information and lab data were collected and emotion scores were assessed through HAD. All data were analyzed by statistic software of SPSS 13.The comparison of different factors leading to phlebitis was analyzed by Chi-square test and t-test. Logistic regression model was adapted for multivariate analysis.ResultsThe results of univariate analysis showed that the location of inserted vein (χ2=5.344, P=0.02), the number of inserting (χ2=4.477, P=0.034),duration of infusing(χ2=0.397, P=0.046), emotion (χ2=4.512, P=0.034),blood sugar level (t=2.9, P=0.004)were associated with phlebitis. Meanwhile, age (χ2=0.066,P=0.797), gender(χ2=0.114, P=0.735), albumin level(χ2=0.927,P=0.336),WBC(t=-1.308, P=0.193), N(t=-0.216, P=0.829)were not associated with phlebitis. The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed lower limb vein, rapid drip, durative anxious and depressive emotion were the risk factors for phlebitis.ConclusionThe research revealed:Different location, the number of inserting, duration of infusing, emotion and blood sugar level were the related factors for phlebitis. Therefore, these factors should be paid more attention to avoid phlebitis by taking corresponding nursing measures.
