Survey And Analysis On Menstrual Status Of Adolescent Girls In Guangxi Province

Objective : To provide evidence for adolescents'procreative health education according to a survey of the prevalence and treatment of menstrual problems conducted among adolescent girls in Guangxi Province.Methods:An administered questionnaire survey was conducted in high schools from 5 cities in Guangxi and a sample of 1632 adolescent girls aged 15~20 years were recruited. Data were analyzed by the program SPSS for Windows(version 13.0).Results:The average age of menarche was 13.40±1.42 years– old. Girls with different BMI have different menarche ages(F=16.644,P<0.05). others).Menstrual problems were common among female students. About 61.5% adolescents complained their adverse experience about menstruation.. The prevalences of menstrual disorder,dysmenorrhea and premenstrual tension syndrome was 45.2%, 18.5%, 15.3% respectively. The different morbidity of menstrual problems is owing to different study stress, bedtime and social environment (P<0.05). However,only 25.8% of the girls had sought doctor's help for their menstrual problem. Most girls acquired the knowledge about menstruation from classmates(64.1%) ,books(58.1%) and their mothers(44.5%) . The percent of the girls who don't understand their menstrual states was 57.4%.Conclusion:Study Stress, bed time and social environment are the main effects of menstrual problems. The menstrual problems of adolescent are common. Health education on menses physiology to puberty girls should be enhanced to reduce Female-pathology and boost female reproductive health.
