Experimental Study Of The Influence Of Honeysuckle Flower And Cortex Cinnamomi In Tongue Manifestation And Pulse Rate Of Rats

Objective:To observe the intervention effects of Honeysuckle Flower and Cortex Cinnamomi in normal rats in tongue manifestation, rectal temperature, pulse rate and spontaneous activities. To study the effects of those herbs (with cold and heat nature), and to make a calibration in tongue manifestation of normal rats.Methods:Wistar rats were given Honeysuckle Flower or Cortex Cinnamomi, and changes in rectal temperature, pulse rate and spontaneous activities were observe. Tongue manifestation were taken by digital camera,and analyzed with Image-proplus medical image analyzing systerm, and then density of red, green and blue were compared.Rats were divided into 5 groups randomly:blank control group, Honeysuckle Flower high dose(HFH) group, Honeysuckle Flower low dose(HFL) group, Cortex Cinnamomi high dose(CCH) group and Cortex Cinnamomi low dose(CCL) group.Results:Conpared with blank control, no evident difference was fanded in spontaneous activities (p>0.05).As to pulse rate in the fourth week, CCH group and HFH group were both higher than blank control (p<0.01, p<0.05).No evident difference was fanded in HFL group and CCL group conpared with blank control (p >0.05).And in the second week after treatment, pulse rate of CCL group was lower than blank control (p<0.05). As to rectal temperature in the second week after treatment, CCH group was lower than blank control (p<0.05),while CCL group was lower than blank control (p<0.01). HFH group was lower than blank control (p< 0.01). As to tongue manifestation, no evident difference was fanded before gaven experiment. And in the second week after treatment, density of red, green and blue in CCH group were higher than blank control (p<0.01),and density of blue in CCL group was higher than blank control (p<0.05),no evident difference was fanded in density of red and green in CCL group (p>0.05). No evident difference was fanded in density of red, green and blue in HFH group and HFL group conpared with blank control (p>0.05)Concluslon:1.Honeysuckle Flower and Cortex Cinnamomi has no affect in spontaneous activities.2.Both Honeysuckle Flower and Cortex Cinnamomi may increase pulse rate,and higher dosage has a better effect,but this might not last long.3. Both Honeysuckle Flower and Cortex Cinnamomi may increase rectal temperature of rats in low dose and decrease rectal temperature in high dose.4. Cortex Cinnamomi cound make tongue manifestation darker, the higher dosage the more significant. But Honeysuckle Flower dos not have this effect.
