The experimental group received integral intervention including drug treatment and group psychotherapy, while the control group received drug treatment only for 12 weeks. Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory(MMPI) was examed before the therapy. Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale(Y-BOCS) were administered at the end of screening day,8 week and 12 week to both group. The MOS 36-item Short Form Health survey (SF-36) were administered before and after the treatment to both groups. The experimental group completed Group Therapeutic Factors Questionnaire to assess the importance of therapeutic factors in Group Psychotherapy. Result:1. Except of Hs,Sc and Si scores, the MMPI scores of other factors in the patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder were significantly higher than that of the Chinese normals (P<0.05).2. At the end of 12 week, both groups were improved significantly. But the symptom alleviation and quality of life improving in the experimental group were more significant than that in the control group (P<0.05).3. The important group therapeutic factors were sorted as following:interpersonal gain, interpersonal pay-out, self-realization, catharsis, existential factors, group cohesiveness, universality, instillation of hope, imparting information, altruism, the corrective recapitulation of the primary family group, imitative behavior. One-Way ANOVA showed that the mean difference was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:1. Compared with mono-therapy, integral intervention was more effective in alleviating symptoms and improving the quality of life for the OCD patients.2. The more important therapeutic factor in Group Psychotherapy was interpersonal gain, interpersonal pay-out, self-realization, catharsis, existential factors, group cohesiveness.3. OCD patients may have personality abnormalities in many aspects.
