Objective: To investigate the change of the OPs and dense of CNV of DM rats afterinjection of isolated bone marrow cell through vena caudalis.Methods: 80 C57BL/6J rats were assigned randomly to receive streptozotocin at adose of 60 mg·kg-1 intraperitoneally (diabetes) or cit rate buffer alone (normalcontrols). One week after injections, only streptozotocin-treated rats with plasmaglucose concentrations above 16.7 mmol·L-1 were considered to be diabetic and weresubsequently divided into DM group, BM-treated group , MMSCs-treated groupandEPC-treated group. At the end of the 16th week, the Ops of the rats in three groupswere detected by Roland Electrophysiological Instrument and the dense of CNVmeasured by immunohistochemical examination.Afterward the BM-treated groupreceived injection of BM suspension of rats via vena caudalis while the MMSCs-treated group MMSC suspension and the EPC-treated group EPC suspension.The Opsand dense of CNV were reexamined at the end of 18th and 24th week,respectively.Results: After 16 wk from modeling,the amplitude ofΣOP(sum of op1,op2,op3 andop4) and OP TTP (sum of P1,P2,P3,and P4) were significantly lower than those incontrol control group(P<0.05),which recovered 2wk and 8wk after injection ofisolated bone marrow(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference between BM-treatedgroup and control group(P>0.05) at 26wk and 32 wk. TheΣOP of the MMSCs-treatedgroup were significantly higher than that of the DM group after 2wktreatment,whereas the OP TTP still lower until 8 wk.EPC-treated group is of no effect.Immunohistochemical examination showed that the vasculature was distinctlydisplyed in normal control group; a lot of curved blocked vessels and retinalneovascularization make the retina lose its original structure in DM group;whilevasculature was clearly demonstrated but there was still blockage of vessels in BMtreated group. The dense of CNV in MMSCs-treated group were lower than that inDM group but higher than BM-treated group.Conclusion: Vena caudalis injection of isolated bone marrow cell can inhibit retinalneovascularization.
