Objective To determine the effect of Huayuniaoshi Tang on the formation of renal calcium oxalate stone, and investigate the mechanism of its prevention and cure effect on renal calcium oxalate stone.Methods The model rats with renal calcium oxalate stone formation were induced by ethylene glycol in drinking water, and at the meantime the rats were given Huayuniaoshi Tang by high dose, middle dose, low dose. Two controlled groups are set up:Shilintong group and normal rats group. The amount of renal calculus, serum Cr and serum Bun were detected, and The deposit condition of calcium oxalate crystals in nephric tissue was observed and scored.Result Huayuniaoshi Tang could significantly decrease the content of calcium in renal issue in the model rats (P<0.01), and lower the score of deposit condition of calcium oxalate crystals in nephric tissue. The scores of the high dose group and middle dose group are significantly different from the model rats'under anatomic microscope. And the scores of the high dose group, middle dose group and low dose group are significantly different from the model rats'under polarimicroscope (P< 0.01).Compared to the model rats, the Scr and Sbun in all the 3 Huayuniaoshi Tang groups were reduced (P<0.01). Compared to Shilintong group, all the indexes are lower noticeably (P< 0.05-0.01)Conclusion Huayuniaoshi Tang could decrease the content of calcium in renal tissue, and suppress the the formation of renal calculus, and reduce the damage of renal fuction caused by renal calculus. The method of promoting qi to activate blood, modifying the blood stasis and softening hard mass by which Huayuniaoshi Tang is designed is a effective rule in prevention and cure for renal calculus.
