Objective:To investigate the relationship between lumbosacral transitional vertebra and the lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Method:The study population included 108 patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation confirmed by surgery, investigated the incidence of lumbosacral transtional vertebra, furthermore, analysis the relationship between lumbosaeral transtional vertebra and intercrestal line and the position of disc herniation, compare the difference between the group with lumbosacral transtional vertebra and the group no lumbosacral transtional vertebra in spine revolve, scoliosis and BMI distribution, compare the difference beteween the age incidence of transitional vertebrae. Results:The incidence of lumbosacral transitional vertebra between the group with LDH and the control one has significant difference. In the group of LDH with the transitional vertebra, the LDH most occur at the upper one disc of the transitional vertebra,And the incidence of spine revolve and scoliosis of LDH group between the transitional vertebra and the normal has significant difference. The intercrestal line tend to lower in the type II.The incidence of LDH with transitional vertebrae has increased combined with increasing age .There is no difference between the group with lumbosacral transtional vertebra and the group no lumbosacral transtional vertebra in BMI distribution. Conclusion:Lumbosacral transitional vertebra is one of the important factors in the emergence of lumbar disic herniation. It changes the lumbosacral anatomy and biomechanics conduction, influence the stability of lower back bone in many ways and weaken it,so that accelerate the regression of discs and eventually cause the emergence of LDH; The location of the LDH with Lumbosacral transitional vertebrae is occurred at the upper one disc mostly; The incidence of the LDH with Lumbosacral transitional vertebrae increases with age.
