Objective To test the manifestation of E-cadherin protein and Snail protein in Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma(SACC); To clarify the relationship between the different pathological levels of the two in SACC and their different clinical phases, and the corelation of the two; To explore their function in the occurrence and evolution of SACC; To assess the value of Snail and E-cadherin in the early diagnosis and after-heal judgement of SACC,To study the expression and significance of E-cadherin and Snail in adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland. Methods The expression of E-cadherin and Snail was detected by the immunohistochemical method in adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland and normal salivary gland tissues, and the correlations among the expression of E-cadherin and Snail in adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland and histological classification, invasion, metastasis were analyzed.Using immunohistochemistry way to test——statistical analysis. Results (1) The expression rates of E-cadherin in adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland were lower than those in normal salivary gland tissues (P=0.032, P<0.05).The expression of E-cadherin was associated with different histological classification, and which was lower in the cases of nerve invasion and distant metastasis. (2) Snail expressed in adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland. The positive rates of Snail were significantly higher in entity type, nerve invasion and distant metastasis.(3) There was negative correlation between expression of E-cadherin and Snail in adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland. (rs=-0.509, P 0.001)Conclusions The expression of E-cadherin and Snail in SACC tissues correlates with clinical stage, distant metastasis, nerve invasion, histological typel. There is a significant negative correlation bettwen the expression of E-cadherin and Snail. The combined detection of E-cadherin and Snail could help Comprehensive treatment and to prevent recurrence of Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma. The combined detection of E-cadherin and Snail could be obejective marks to estimate to the behaviors of SACC.
