Objective:Emergency medicine has very sophisticated working environment and it requires strong practical skills and high adaptability in contingency. However due to the consideration of insufficient experience of emergency medicine rotation students and patients'safety, we can't let them participate in a code or practice directly with patients, in which case, students found its very difficult to combine their theoretical knowledge with practical skills. To solve this problem, we've been using Medical Simulation System in the teaching of emergency medicine, which provides excellent technical platform for clinical education of emergency medicine. And the system symbolize the transformation from traditional textbook teaching mode into "simulation teaching mode", which made medical education become closer and closer to real scenario. Medical students can actually participate in the rescuing work by practicing and training with Medical Simulation System, which enable them to deal with different problems they may encounter in real case. By participating in the practical work can rise students'awareness of emergency medicine and as well as master essential emergency medicine skills, which also significantly improve the teaching quality, and better transform intern physician into clinical practioner, in order to satisfy the demand of hospital work and to adapt the development of modern medicine. Based on the advantage of our hospital, we have first carried out the simulation program in east region of Inner Mongolia. The program is still in the development stage, we are trying to make it more systematic. The purpose of this study is to better carry out medical simulation education in the future, and to improve the clinical skills of our medical students.Method:Groups:Students of Class 1-3 of 2004 was assigned as experimental group by teaching of using Advanced Manikins, students of Class 4-6 of 2004 was assigned as control group by teaching without using advanced manikins. (This program has been carried out in semester 1 and semester 2 respectively in the same academic year.) The experimental group was using advanced CPR manikins series system (Production of Laerdal Corp, Norway), and 2005 International CPR Guideline as reference, and set up "Emergency Medicine training of Clinical Simulation" training course during their rotation in the faculty of emergency medicine. The content of the course includes basic life support, advanced life support, CPR, endotracheal intubation. After the completion of the course, students are required to deal with a simulated case, evaluated by attending physician, and apply statistic analysis on their questionnaire. Results:The total qualified pass rate of simulation is 94.9%; 100% students think it's necessary to set up this program,96.5% students think the program is very helpful for their practical skills,91% students think the content of the program is reasonable and complete,77.8%-100% students think the program improved their emergency practical skills, knowledge, comprehensive practical skills and the ability of clinical thinking. Conclusion:Through the advanced manikins simulation system to carry out "Emergency Medicine training of Clinical Simulation" program can significantly improve clinical skills, team work and coordination as well as confidence of the interns, also their clinical thinking ability and judgment, which will be helpful to improve the quality of service which provided to our patients.
