Nasopharyngeal carcinoma, NPC patients in China accounts for about 80% of the world, Guangdong Province is one of the areas of high incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma which seriously has affected people's health, pathological diagnosis is the gold standard for diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, but, this method has leaded to unnecessary suffering for Patients with suspected nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This study, by collecting patients, information which about vinegar reaction at Nasopharyngeal carcinoma high-incidence area, to improve the NPC biopsy accuracy and positive rate of NPC, at same time this study is about to make some contribution.Objective:This study is To investigate the clinical significance about White vinegar reaction working on Patients with suspected nasopharyngeal, Precisely, these patients Whether need to biopsy or no, if need, in whichMethods:The Cases, which are from Guangzhou University of TCM affiliated Zhongshan hospital between September 2007 and June 2009, are ENT clinic patients. the 189 cases in Test group includ 19 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which ages between 24 to 75 years, mean age 47.3 years,15 males and 4 females; 16 cases with Nasopharyngeal epithelial metaplasia shaped, aged 25 to 56 years, mean age 38.9 years old,9 males,7 females;Nasopharyngitis 47 patients, aged 19 to 62 years, mean age 39.9 years,20 males and 27 females.47 patients with Nasopharyngitis, aged 19 to 62 years, mean age 39.9 years,20 males and 27 females. The 107 patients in control groups, are the healthy volunteers including 60 males,47 females, which ages are between 14 to 82 years, mean ages are 38.1 years, Then, we apply 2% acetic acid to the nasopharyngeal lesion, immediately, and 1 minute, Observed cases of nasopharyngeal mucosa coloring, analysis images collected in the nasopharynx, but also the part of the patient's tongue.Results:Different nasopharyngeal diseases with vary degrees of white vinegar reaction, was enhanced reaction of white vinegar, according to the increase of malignant pathological response. the vinegar-positive rates of nasopharynx and nasopharyngitis with metaplasia were:89.5%93.8%, and the two groups including nasopharyngitis and healthy volunteers did not demonstrate the response of white vinegar, the vinegar-positive rates were:38.3%,4.7%. x2=115.2, p<0.001. Normal tongue in healthy controls were more of the total number of 50%. But nasopharyngitis and with metaplasia were relatively smaller, but at least the NPC group, only 28.5%. The pathological tongue(tongue pale and red tongue)were more in nasopharyngeal carcinoma, nasopharyngitis and with metaplasia, but in healthy controls decreased.Conclusion:White vinegar reaction have a certain diagnosis of nasopharyngeal epithelial cells cancer under Nasopharyngoscopy, can be used to guide the initial clinical diagnosis of Suspicious lesions of the nasopharynx, to determine the need for biopsy and the relatively accurately the biopsy site, as a result, this study can improve the accuracy and positive rate of inspection of the nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients.
