| ObjectiveThis research takes random comparison as the research methods with Chinese Herbal Medicine treatment as comparison. It observes the clinical effect of simple obesity treatment with ear press methods. The research aims at discussing the clinical effect and mechanism of applying ear press methods in treating simple obesity and provides foundation for its clinical treatment.MethodsThe research objects are simple obesity patients. The Treatment Group: apply body needle and ear press methods. Body acupoints selected are Zhongwan, Qihai, Huaroumen, Daheng, Neiting, Gongsun, Shangjuxu, Tianshu; the ear acupoints selected are Shenmen, Jiaogan, endocrine, Sanjiao, lung, and mouth. The operation methods:After routine sterilization, select fine needles of type 30 with the length of 1-3 cun. Insert needles quickly with routine needling methods and achieve qi. Connect the body acupoints with G6805-2 Electric-needle Treatment Device and apply the wave at different density which should be bearable for patients. Apply the acupuncture treatment on body acupoints every other day and maintain the needles for 30 minutes each time. Bury cowherb seeds at ear acupoints and stick with strapping. The patients press the ear acupoints 3 times and 1-2 minutes at each acupoint each time each day. Change every 3-5 days. The Comparison Group:Apply the Chinese Herbal Medicine therapy. The herbal medicine is Taiwan GMP Scientific Chinese Medicine Compounds with the major components of hawthorn fruit, lotus leaf, hoelen, atractylodes macrocephala and alisma rhizoma. There are 10 capsules of type 0. The patients take 5 each morning and evening until the end of the treatment course. The two groups start the one-month course at the same time and the results are observed. ResultThis research collects 100 qualified cases. The Treatment Group (ear press complemented with body needles) has 50 cases and the Comparison Group (Chinese Herbal Medicine) has 50 cases who are all clinic patients.Before treatment, the difference in each index of the two groups has no significance which indicates the baseline clinical material of two groups has comparability.The treatment effect comparison:There is significant difference in the clinical effect comparison of Chinese Medicine syndromes between two groups (rank sum test, z=2.49, P=0.012) and the treatment effect of the Treatment Group is superior to that of the Comparison Group. The clinical recovery ratio of the Treatment Group is 24%, the excellence ratio is 40%, the effective power is 26% and the total effective power is 90%, while the respective figure of the Comparison Group is 12%,22%,40% and 82%. There's statistical significance in the difference of total effective power of the two groups after treatment byχ2 test.There's significance in the difference of appetite improvement of the two groups after two curative courses (z=2.13, P=0.03).After one curative course, there's statistical significance in BMI, body fat percentage, etc. of the two groups compared with that before treatment, while there's no statistical significance in waistline. After two curative courses, there's statistical significance in BMI, body fat percentage and waistline compared with that before treatment.The difference in major clinical symptoms like debilitation (χ2=6.66, P=0.00) and lassitude (χ2=3.88, P=0.04) and in the physical sign disappearance rate has significance.After treatment, the differences in the major clinical symptoms and body signs like short breath, drowsiness, bulimia and constipation, abdominal distension, striae albicantes, pale purple striae and afraid of heat have no significance. The differences in the major clinical symptoms and body signs like weak, burnout have statistical significance.The Treatment Group and the Comparison Group tested 50 cases in blood and urine routine tests, GPT, BUN, and electrocardiogram tests. The recheck after treatment finds no abnormality.The needling plus ear press therapy has significant curative effect in treating simple obesity can lower the patients'BWI, body fat percentage and waistline. Its total effective power is obviously higher than that of Chinese Herbal Medicine Group and has more advantage than body needle therapy in improving the appetite. As the treatment is applied every three weeks, it costs less time. It doesn't need anesthesiology and has smaller trauma, so the patients suffer less. It improves the defects of traditional acupuncture like multiple treating times and poor compliances. The patients can receive it more willingly now. It's an effective, quick, economical and lasting slimming method without toxic or side effects.Conelusion1. Needling plus ear press therapy is superior to Chinese Herbal Medicine therapy in improving Chinese Medicine syndromes.2. Needling plus ear press therapy is superior to Chinese Herbal Medicine therapy in improving appetites.
