Clinical And Experimental Study On The Method Of Descending Stomach Qi (JianWeiXiaoZhang Table) In Treatment Of Functional Dyspepsia

OBJECTIVET:The aim of the study was to assess the effect of Descending Stomach Qi (JianWeiXiaoZhang Table, JWXZT)on Functional Dyspepsia(FD) by observing clinical symptoms, evaluating quality of life, and to discuss the mechanism of JWXZT via the experiment study of the pharmacological effects on gastrointestinal tract.METHOD:60 cases of FD were divided into two groups randomly. The treatment group (30 cases) was treated with JWXZT and the control group (30 cases) treated with TCM syndrome differentiation. The treatment course was 4 weeks. Observation period was 4 weeks. The clinical symptoms and quality of life were observed and compared at pre-treatment, post-treatment. To discuss the mechanism of Descending Stomach Qi (JWXZT) in the treatment of FD, the exerperiment study of the pharmacological effects on gastrointestinal tract was conducted to evaluate the protective effects on gastric mucosa in rats, the effects on inhibiting gastric acid secretion of rats, the function of the small intestinal propulsion and the gastric emptying promotion in mice.RESULTS:1. The management of Descending Stomach Qi (JWXZT) could improve the clinical symptoms of FD patients.The clinical symptoms of both group have significant difference after four-weeks treatment compared with the clinical symptoms before the treatment (p< 0.05). In this study, after four-weeks treatment, no significant differences were found between treating group and the control group (p> 0.05), suggests that treating group as good as the control group on improving the clinical symptoms. 2. The management of Descending Stomach Qi (JWXZT) could improve the quality of life of FD patients.Quality of life measured with a SF-36 scale has significant differences before and after treatment of both group(p< 0.05), It is concluded that the treatment of two groups can improve the quality of life of FD patients.3. Experiment study of the pharmacological effects on gastrointestinal tract show that JWXZT has the pharmacological effects on gastric mucosal protection, inhibiting gastric acid secretion, promoting the small intestinal propulsive function.The experiments show that Descending Stomach Qi (JWXZT) could inhibit gastric mucosal injury induced by hydrochloride ethanol and inhibit gastric acid secretion of pyloric ligation rats, also, It could promote the small intestinal propulsive function, but is adiaphorous in promote the gastric emptying function.CONCLUSIONS:The management of Descending Stomach Qi (JWXZT) could improve the clinical symptoms and the quality of life of FD patients. Experiment study of the pharmacological effects on gastrointestinal tract show that JWXZT has the pharmacological effects on Gastric mucosal protection, inhibiting gastric acid secretion, promoting the small intestinal propulsive function.
