ObjectiveTo investigate the expression of Ezrin protein between the normal endometrium and the eutopic and ectopic endometrium of the ovarian endometriosis, discussing the relationship of Ezrin protein with the ovarian endometriosis and the pathogenesis of endometriosis.MethodsS-P immunohistochemistry (IHC) stain of Ezrin protein is used to investigate the expression of Ezrin in the eutopic and ectopic endometrium from 54 cases with endometriotic cyst (containing 18 cases of the pair eutopic and ectopic endometrium) and in the normal endometrium of 18 cases without endometriosis. Use IPP6.0 (Image Pro Plus 6.0) software to measure the different expression of the groups with the score of AOD.Results1. The normal endometrium, ectopic and eutopic endometrium of the ovarian endometriosis have the distinct expression of Ezrin, furthermore with the change of subcelluar localization of Ezrin protein in the ectopic and eutopic endometrium;2. The group of ectopic endometrium has the significantly higher expression than another two groups of eutopic and normal endometrium; Moreover, Ezrin protein in eutopic endometrium is higher expressed than the group of normal endometrium;3. The expression of Ezrin protein in the proliferative phase is higher than the secretory phase in the ectopic endometrium;4. The expression of Ezrin in the proliferative phase is higher than the secretory phase of eutopic endometrium;5. The expression of Ezrin in proliferative phase is higher than the secretory phase of the normal endometrium; 6. The different phases of the clinical diagnosis with r-AFS has different expression in ovarian endometrium;Conclusions1. The higher expression of Ezrin protein in ectopic and eutopic endometrium than the normal endometrium suggestes that Ezrin may participate in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.2. That the higher clinical stage has a higher expression of Ezrin protein suggests a postive influence of Ezrin in different clinical stages.3. The expression of Ezrin in the proliferative phase is higher than the secretory phase in the normal endometrium, eutopic and ectopic ovarian endometriosis, hinting the possibility that the endometrium in the proliferative phase maybe more invasive than the secretory phase.
